Today we met my husband's parents for brunch at Bolsa in Oak Cliff. Bolsa does not take reservations and they open at 11:00 AM. Have you ever seen those YouTube videos of Wal-Mart opening their doors at 5:00 AM the morning after Thanksgiving? It's a rush of people acting like animals? There was a similar situation happening when they opened the doors to Bolsa at 11:00 AM this morning- no one died, but we had to hold our ground. Lucky for us, we got the best table in the tiny restaurant. (Dear Bolsa, please expand your space.) The food was delicious, but the big discovery of the morning was Nathan's sweet horseradish pickles. Our server called them "Nathan's Horsey Pickles," but I couldn't find that online.
They were the garnish to my husband's Bloody Mary, and he gave them to me. They are like bread and butter pickles but they have a bite to them from the horseradish. My husband's mother liked them too- so we got two to-go containers of pickles. (Happy Mother's Day!) I've looked online, but I can't find them for sale online. If you find these pickles, please tell me!
